Since being called to the bar over 25 years ago Charles has a large amount of experience in criminal work appearing as both defence and prosecution counsel including rape fraud armed robbery, firearms, money laundering, murder and various other serious crime.
NOTABLE CASES
- Appeared as leading defence advocate in Murder trial involving Nigerian Prince.
- Leading Junior for defence in six week multi-handed rape with multiple victims. The parties concerned being 16 years of age and under. Reported in National media.
- Leading Junior-defence Conspiracy to defraud-Banks. Multiple defendants.

- Coventry case- mother causing the death of her 22 month year old child and perverting the course of justice. A Case widely reported in the National media.
- Multi-handed VAT fraud involving 26 defendants.
- Insurance fraud involving fictitious third party claims by the defendant.
- Multi-handed large public order disturbance approximately 16 defendants (Everton supporters)
- Five handed case involving possession of firearms and ammunition
- Kidnapping, False imprisonment case , four defendants
- Five handed case involving violent disorder the victims being British Transport police officers
- Four handed conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary. Reported in the media.
- Serious affray concerning victims who were firearms officers.
- Section 18 case where case against the defendant was “organiser” of attack involving a number of assailants.
- Section 18 involving two handed case where the victim was attacked with a sumarai sword.
- Section 18 –three handed case where attack included the victim being whipped with a chain. Reported in the media.
- Burglary case of interest to the media where the Olympic gold medal of Cracknell was stolen.
Appeared as prosecution advocate in the following cases:
- where teenage conman committed six figure fraud , from age of 13. Case reported in the media.
- Appeared as prosecution advocate in section 18 case where Scotsman attacked stranger with a knife at Victoria station. Case reported in the National press.
- where waitress invented sexual assault against her gay boss after sacking. Case reported in National press.
- serious affray concerning victims who were firearms officers.
- 120 million Euro fraud involving promissory notes involving two defendants.
Appeared in the Court of Appeal on a number of occasions both conviction and sentence appeals. Appeals include offences Armed robbery and supplying drugs.
In addition, experience in the various civil courts, include the High Court Family and Queens Bench divisions, appeals by way of Judicial review and the Court of Appeal, mainly housing immigration and Road Traffic offences.
