AREAS OF PRACTICETim practises almost exclusively in criminal defence work and is instructed in serious cases of all types. These include armed robbery, s.18 GBH, rape, kidnap, firearms, arson, drugs supply, aggravated burglary, large scale fraud and threats to kill. He appears in both the Crown Court and Court of Appeal. Many of his cases involve expert evidence from specialists in computers, cell-site analysis, drugs, psychiatry and arson. Tim is a very approachable member of the Bar and is often instructed in cases that concern young or vulnerable Defendants. In addition to his criminal practise, Tim has experience in the Coroner’s Court and in GMC hearings. NOTABLE CASESR-v-K: Led junior in a multi-handed car-jacking trial. R-v-T: Multi-handed conspiracy to supply firearms. R-v-McC: Gang-related, multi-handed, conspiracy to supply class A drugs. R-v-A: Post Office fraud of over £100,000. R-v-H: Allegation of aggravated burglary successfully dismissed, on application. R-v-S: Defendant acquitted of a Firearm robbery on a taxi driver. R-v-M: Defendant acquitted of 9 counts of rape and witness intimidation. R-v-D: Appellant’s sentence of 19 years, for 4 rapes and 10 other sex offences, successfully reduced to 15 years. R-v-T: Defendant received a suspended sentence order for throwing bricks at a police vehicle during the London riots.
