Farringdon Chambers Announces the Retirement of Soraya Lawrence

Farringdon Chambers announces, with great pride and no small measure of sadness, the retirement of Soraya Lawrence.

Over the course of a distinguished career at the criminal Bar, Soraya has built a formidable practice defending in serious and complex criminal cases, including murder, manslaughter, large-scale drug conspiracies, fraud, money laundering and confiscation proceedings. She has been regularly instructed in high-profile cases attracting significant media attention, appearing as both leading and junior defence counsel, and has developed particular expertise in serious sexual offences and in the cross-examination of children and other vulnerable witnesses.

Beyond the courtroom, Soraya served as legal advisor to the BBC during the making of Rillington Place, bringing her expertise in criminal law to bear on the production.

Clients and colleagues alike have long recognised the diligence that has defined her practice, with one noting simply that she "gives 100% and doesn't miss a single detail" — a fitting summary of an approach that has served her clients so well over the years.

Everyone at Farringdon Chambers thanks Soraya for her outstanding contribution to the set and to the profession, and wishes her a very happy and well-deserved retirement.
