Stephen Nelson secures acquittals on robbery and knife charge at Woolwich Crown Court

Stephen Nelson successfully defended a man charged with robbery and threatening another with a bladed article following an incident at a residential address.

The prosecution alleged that the defendant had participated with another man in the robbery of a Rolex watch and had separately threatened the complainant with a knife.

The defence challenged the reliability of the prosecution evidence and disputed that the defendant had intentionally assisted or encouraged the alleged robbery. The case also involved the evidence of a complainant who had died before trial, whose account was therefore admitted without the opportunity for cross-examination.

Following trial at Woolwich Crown Court, the jury returned not guilty verdicts on both counts, resulting in the defendant's complete acquittal.
