Youth Court rape trial involving Lyall Thompson results in Not Guilty verdicts
Lyall Thompson appeared in the Youth Court, defending a teenager of good character charged with rape and sexual assault. The defence was one of fabrication, with the defendant claiming that he had never had any sexual relations with the complainant, who had invented the allegations for her own motives. Following a two-day trial, the District Judge found the young man not guilty on both charges and made a defence costs order.
